About the role:
We are looking for a driven, high-energy Retail Recruiter to join us on a 3-month project basis (with potential to extend) and take full ownership of recruitment for our New York retail store.
This role is focused on NYC store recruitment, primarily Sales Representatives – with the goal of urgently building a strong, reliable pipeline and closing hires quickly. You will sit in our London HQ and work NYC hours (a combination of HQ-based and home working to align with the New York time zone), partnering closely with the HR and Retail Teams.

Objectives:
- Own end-to-end recruitment for the NYC store, with a primary focus on Sales Representatives and other store-based hires as needed.
- Build, run, and continuously improve a reliable sourcing pipeline using LinkedIn, job boards, social channels, referrals, and direct outreach – reducing reliance on external agencies.
- Write and post compelling job adverts tailored to the NYC retail market and Smartech’s brand tone.
- Screen, qualify, and shortlist candidates against the role brief, and present a strong, decision-ready shortlist to the US Store Manager and People Manager.
- Schedule and coordinate interviews across NYC and London time zones, ensuring a smooth, professional candidate experience from first contact to offer.
- Liaise with hiring managers and candidates to keep momentum, chase feedback, and close hires quickly.
- Continuously feed back market insight from NYC – salary expectations, candidate availability, competitor activity – to help us stay competitive.
What we're looking for:
- Minimum 1 year recruitment experience, with a strong focus on retail, hospitality, or high-volume customer-facing roles (essential).
- Proven experience hiring Sales Representatives or store-based teams, ideally in fast-paced or premium retail environments.
- Experience recruiting into the US market – New York specifically is highly desirable.
- Confident sourcer: LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards, social, and direct outreach – not reliant on inbound applications.
- Comfortable working NYC hours from London, with a flexible, ownership-led approach.
