Consultant Radiologist with Interest in MSK Radiology
We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiology to join and strengthen our established and highly regarded Radiology team.
This permanent post will expand the Consultant Radiologist establishment to 13 substantive Consultants, further enhancing the resilience and expertise of the service. The team, including this vacancy, is 3 Radiologists who specialise in MSK Radiology.
Our Radiologists have access to home reporting stations, so opportunities to discuss some flexible and home working sessions are available.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to demonstrate high level expertise in diagnostic and interventional MSK radiology, including reporting across plain film, ultrasound, CT and MRI. The role also includes undertaking ultrasound-guided, CT-guided and fluoroscopic MSK interventions.
The successful candidate will also provide support to general radiology services, including participation in on call and acute imaging work, ensuring the continued delivery of safe and effective patient care.
The Trust has successfully implemented a tele-radiology diagnostic on call service operating: Monday to Friday 19.00 to 08.00 and Weekends/Bank Holidays 17.30 to 08.00.

Job responsibilities
As a consultant radiologist with an interest in MSK radiology, you will:
- Report on a range of imaging modalities including plain film, ultrasound, CT, and MRI for musculoskeletal cases.
- Perform ultrasound-guided, CT-guided, and fluoroscopic interventions within the musculoskeletal field.
- Provide support to general radiology services, participating in on‑call and acute imaging work to deliver safe and effective patient care.
- Participate in the Trust’s tele‑radiology diagnostic on‑call service as required.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- On GMC’s Specialist Register or be no more than six months from receiving CCT at interview date
- FRCR or equivalent higher qualification from a different College or from overseas.
- Fellowship in MSK Radiology.
- Advanced or further degrees.
Experience
- Experience in General Radiology and appropriate sub‑specialist training in MSK Radiology.
- Confident with Information Technology.
- Knowledge of a wide range of educational methods.
- Experience in MSK intervention, including CT guided nerve root blocks and bone biopsies.
- General intervention, such as drainages and biopsies.
Training
- In General Radiology (CT, MR, US, Plain Films, Fluoroscopy) with appropriate sub‑specialist training in MSK Radiology.
- Teaching experience.

Personal Circumstances
- Reside within 20 miles or 60 minutes of Airedale General Hospital. If do not reside within this distance from the Trust, please contact the recruiting managers to discuss.
- Able to provide an on‑call service.
Clinical Governance and Audit
- To have understanding of all elements and commitment to the principals of clinical governance and clinical audit.
