Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Locum Consultant Cardiologist with a specialist interest in Heart Failure and Complex Devices to join a high‑performing team of 17 consultants at the University Hospitals Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB). The post is a fixed‑term appointment providing maternity leave cover until June 2027, supporting the delivery and continuity of our heart failure and complex device services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced heart failure management and complex device therapy, including rhythm and ischemic pre‑infarct post‑infarct management, pharmacological therapy, device evaluation and implantation (ICD, CRT, advanced pacing).
- Perform complex device therapies, including ICD/CRT implantation, advanced pacing, and device interrogation.
- Contribute to service development and maintain high‑quality clinical care within the Department, working closely with existing heart‑failure and device consultants.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including echocardiography, EP, imaging and regional cardiothoracic centres.
- Support continuity of care on a fixed‑term basis.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Consultant Cardiologist with specialised expertise in heart failure and/or complex devices.
- Extensive experience in device implantation (ICD, CRT, advanced pacing) and advanced heart‑failure management.
- Familiarity with advanced echocardiography, cardiac CT/MRI, EP or inherited cardiac conditions is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
