POST CCT CLINICAL FELLOW IN INTERVENTIONAL CARDIOLOGY

Main duties of the job
The United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to appoint a clinical fellow in interventional cardiology (coronary angioplasty) to be based at Lincoln County Hospital. This post is for 12 months and will enable the successful applicant to consolidate their interventional cardiology training with a year of specialist training in all aspects of coronary intervention in a busy non‑surgical tertiary referral centre. This trust provides a 24/7 primary PCI service with over 900‑1200 PCI procedures per year and offers full intracoronary imaging, physiological assessment, and adjunctive treatments including intravascular lithotripsy, rotational and laser atherectomy. The unit has an active research programme in place with many clinical studies currently running.

Job responsibilities
Applicants should be CCT in Cardiology and have basic training in coronary intervention. The post‑holder is expected to perform approximately 400 solo or first‑operator procedures during the year. There is no general cardiology on‑call commitment; there is an option for a low‑intensity non‑interventional pan‑Trust consultant rota.
Qualifications & Training
- MBBS or equivalent
- Level of MRCP or equivalent
- Registration with GMC
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Cardiology
Experience
- Four years of cardiology training with basic knowledge and practical experience of general cardiology, acute coronary care and non‑invasive imaging techniques
- Understanding of audit principles and evidence of participation or enthusiasm
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of cardiovascular disease, with specific interest in interventional cardiology
- Competence in diagnostic coronary angiography
- Experience of simple angioplasty procedures
- Shows interest, enthusiasm or demonstrates ability for management
- Understands research principles and has evidence of enthusiasm or participation; relevant research undertaken
