Role Overview
Head of Service – Integrated Disability Service (IDS), overseeing the social care component.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead and manage two teams of statutory social workers, providing operational and social work practice advice.
- Oversee team managers and ensure compliance with statutory guidance and good practice.
- Authorise and monitor support plans, ensuring outcomes are met and the service delivers value for money.
- Manage the social care and staffing budget, track performance metrics, and maintain up‑to‑date supervision, appraisal and training records.
- Drive service improvement and development initiatives, leading change initiatives and maintaining partnerships with health colleagues.
- Contribute to Local Authority governance, senior leadership meetings and contract discussions.
- Represent the service in internal and external meetings, supporting statutory and legal practices.
Key Qualifications
- Proven experience leading change and development in a social care or public sector setting.
- Strong knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and relevant statutory guidance.
- Experience in authorising and supporting intervention plans and working within a statutory framework.
- Ability to manage budgets, conduct performance reviews and develop staff training programmes.
- Experience of attending court on behalf of a service is desirable.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
