The primary role of the Business Development Manager is to recruit new business operating in the trade markets.
Key Accountabilities
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.
- To ensure set targets are achieved with regard to: Sales, Profitability & Margin.
- Target specific key accounts both pre-defined new customers to ensure new business targets are achieved and the development of the existing customer base to agreed budgeted goals.
- Identify and develop new opportunities within the market sectors.
- Identify, prospect and meet potential new clients leveraging existing and new contacts at the appropriate levels and turn this into increased business.
- Identify trends and ideas by researching industry and related events, publications and announcements.
- Plan sales approaches and pitches, understanding client needs, concerns and objectives. Present to and consult with the management team on business trends with a view to developing profitable new business.
- Attend industry functions, events and conferences and provide feedback and information on market trends.
- Act on new business leads promptly and provide a weekly progress report on development, provide a monthly management report using the template provide by the Divisional Sales Manager.
- Prepare a monthly report on activity and sales performance.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of all Epwin products and remain up to date with market conditions and competitor activities.
Key Experiences and Skills Required
- Experience within a Senior Sales, Sales Manager and or Business Development Manager position is essential.
- Excellent Microsoft office skills including, Excel, Word & PowerPoint and CRM systems.
- Commercial business awareness, with the ability to clearly identify potential profitable opportunities for Specialist Building Distribution Ltd.
- Experience in the Trade sector
- Driven by acquiring new business
- Ability to analyse data with the intention of identifying current and future performance and to utilise that data in the successful application of business plans. In addition to utilise data in the application of budgeting and forecasting
Desirable Skills, Qualifications and Experiences Required
- Experienced within the new build and specification market.
- Experience of managing a multi-site high volume trading region.
- Proven experience in delivering sales through development of business relationships.
- Ability to effectively plan and maintain own workloads with specific reference to the outlined job scope and responsibilities.
- Challenging current offering to customers leading to continuous improvements.
- Excellent listening, negotiation, presentation and both verbal/written skills.
