The Training Programme Director in IMT (Lancs & South Cumbria) will support the Head of School in the Strategic Development of the School of Medicine and manage Stage 1 IMT trainees from Year 1 to Year 3. The postholder will also contribute to the Quality Assurance of medical training for all NHSE ACCS trainees rotating through medical posts.

The post holder will lead the development of the School's Recruitment and Retention Strategy, support the School Operational Programme, and serve as a member of the School Board.

As part of NHS England’s integration into the Department of Health and Social Care, all new educator appointments will end 31st March 2027. Extensions beyond this date are not guaranteed.

Main duties of the job

The Training Programme Director will focus on improving learner supervision, assessment, and experience; engaging faculty; and ensuring effective educational outcomes. The role is evolving to include whole workforce transformation and the development of multi‑professional links.
