Role Overview
The Liaison Psychiatry service at Kings Mill Hospital is offering a substantive Band 6 Liaison Nurse post. The role requires an organised, highly motivated, and enthusiastic professional with excellent communication skills, a flexible approach to work, and a commitment to caring for patients aged 18 and over. The position involves working across both adult and older adult teams.
Responsibilities
- Determine management plans and deliver short‑term psychological treatments for patients referred following self‑harm or psychiatric emergencies, based on comprehensive psychosocial, risk, and needs assessments.
- Assess patients presenting with suicidal behaviours or thoughts to determine their suitability for discharge from general hospital.
- Implement appropriate interventions to reduce risk.
- Provide psychological treatment/support to individuals with physical illness or difficulties who experience mental distress or disorder to improve functioning or quality of life.
- Work collaboratively within the team and maintain patient and carer satisfaction.
- Deliver effective written and spoken communication and perform sound risk and mental health assessments.
Qualifications
- Professional qualification and registration as a Mental Health Nurse.
- Experience in mental health nursing, with a commitment to reflective practice and continuous learning and development.
Working Hours
The service operates 24/7; night shifts constitute a part of the working pattern.
Additional Information
Applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced) and will be deducted from salary over the first two months of employment. The DBS Update Service can be enrolled for an annual fee of £16.
