Key Responsibilities
- Discipline Leadership
- Act as HVAC discipline lead, responsible for overall HVAC engineering quality, technical direction, and consistency across the project.
- Define HVAC design philosophy, engineering standards, and deliverables for FEED, detailed engineering, and construction phases.
- Engineering & Technical Authority
- Lead and review HVAC load calculations, ventilation studies, equipment sizing, and system layouts for offshore and marine environments.
- Approve HVAC system designs for accommodation modules, control rooms, equipment spaces, hazardous areas, and critical utility rooms.
- Resolve complex technical issues and provide engineering judgments aligned with offshore safety and operability requirements.
- Codes, Standards & Compliance
- Ensure HVAC designs comply with classification society rules (ABS, DNV, LR, BV, etc.), IMO / SOLAS / MODU Code, and project-specific specifications.
- Interface with class, owners, and third-party reviewers to address comments, clarifications, and approvals.
- Interdisciplinary & Model Coordination
- Lead HVAC participation in 3D model reviews, clash resolution, and layout optimisation.
- Coordinate closely with architectural, structural, piping, electrical, and safety disciplines to ensure integrated design and eliminate interface risks.
- Vendor & Procurement Support
- Review and approve vendor technical submissions, datasheets, calculations, and drawings.
- Support procurement by providing technical evaluations, clarifications, and recommendations.
- Participate in FAT, inspections, and commissioning activities as required.
- Team & Project Support
- Guide, mentor, and technically support HVAC engineers and designers within the project team.
- Monitor HVAC engineering progress, deliverables, and interfaces to support project schedule and quality objectives.
- Provide technical input to tender proposals, technical clarifications, and variation assessments.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 8–12+ years of HVAC engineering experience, with strong offshore and marine project exposure.
- Proven experience as Senior or Lead HVAC Engineer on offshore production platforms, FPSOs, jack-ups, or offshore living quarters projects.
- Strong working knowledge of marine HVAC design philosophy, ventilation safety, hazardous area requirements, and offshore operational constraints.
