Contentful is experiencing rapid growth, and we are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Core DataTeam. In this pivotal role, you will be at the heart of our data operations, collaborating with developers and internal stakeholders to create cutting‑edge tools for data customers while maintaining a highly adaptable platform.
What to Expect
- Software Development
- Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of scalable and maintainable software solutions for our data platform.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Data Orchestration
- Architect and implement systems for efficient data orchestration, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Work closely with the Platform Engineers to integrate new technologies and tools into the data platform ecosystem.
- Performance Optimization
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks in the data platform, ensuring optimal data processing and access speed.
- Implement monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Problem‑Solving
- Daily challenges related to data management, performance optimization, and security.
- Responsibility
- Substantial impact on the stability and performance of Contentful’s Data Platform.

What You Need to Be Successful
- 5+ years of engineering experience.
- Proficiency in cloud technologies (AWS preferred).
- Strong coding skills in Python; Golang and TypeScript are a plus.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, Terraform (Terragrunt a plus).
- Proficiency in CI/CD tools, setting up complex workflows with a focus on CircleCI.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.
- Experience with Git.
- Experience with streaming services.
- Desirable: Familiarity with Apache Airflow and/or AWS Redshift.
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, and collaboration skills.
