Senior Audiologist

Become part of a modern and highly equipped audiology service. We are looking for experienced Band 6 Senior Audiologists to play a key role in our Audiology Department. The role covers adult and paediatric services and includes leadership, supervision, service development, and complex diagnostics.
Job responsibilities
- Have at least 3 years post-qualification experience at Band 5 level
- Hold a BSc in Audiology (or equivalent) and are HCPC or AHCS registered
- Can perform a full range of diagnostics, including speech audiometry, and manage complex cases on both adults and paediatric patients
- Have experience in mentoring, service innovation, and multidisciplinary team working
- Bring excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
Person Specification
Education
- BSc degree in Audiology from an accredited University OR – Equivalent qualifications BAAT part 1 and 2 (until 2006).
- Be registered with AHCS or HCPC.
- Evidence of learning from relevant professional courses/seminars
- Post qualifying clinical experience in Audiology.
- Driving licence.
Knowledge
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Basic Grade Audiologist or working as a band 6 with acquisition of skills expected at a senior level.
- Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and communication skills.
- Clinical Governance knowledge.
- Able to perform a wide range of diagnostic tests including tympanometry, VRA, performance Audiometry, play Audiometry, McCormick Toy Testing, speech audiometry, acoustic reflexes and TEOAE, PTA, and otoscopy including video otoscopy.
- Able to perform hearing aid fittings with verification e.g., REMS.
- Experience in performing Hearing assessment Direct Referral clinics from GP’s, prescribing hearing aids, identifying red flags and the need for further investigation and onward referral.
- Experience in paediatric hearing assessment and paediatric rehabilitation.
- Be able to lead and perform a comprehensive range of paediatric diagnostic assessments.
- Competent in paediatric hearing aid fittings with verification and validation
- Experience with Auditbase and Phonak hearing aids
- Experience of training other lower grades of staff.
- Previous NHS experience.
