Staff Nurse – Pre Assessment (Fixed Term Contract)

Position Overview

Band 5 Staff Nurse – 11 months Fixed Term Contract, Part‑time – 36 hours per week.

In the Surgical Pre‑Assessment Department, the post holder will conduct the surgical/anaesthetic assessment of all adult patients requiring surgery across all specialties delivered by the trust.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ clinical condition in line with NICE guidelines and policies.
• Communicate effectively with patients and visitors, ensuring their information needs are met.
• Determine individualised investigations for all patients.
• Review abnormal results and escalate or treat where appropriate.
• Apply an in‑depth knowledge of the nursing process and promote the agreed model of individual patient care.
