Band 5 Staff Nurse – Day Surgery Unit (WBCH Thatcham)
This is a part-time post for 23.5 hours per week. This post is based at West Berkshire Community Hospital, London Road, Benham Hill, Thatcham, RG18 3AS. We are looking for a staff nurse to join our ward team within the day surgery unit, working Monday to Friday. You will be caring for patients undergoing a range of surgical and endoscopy procedures. There may be opportunities to work in other areas of the department (theatre, endoscopy, recovery) as required. We will provide opportunities for nurses to develop both professionally and personally, through local training and external professional courses.
Responsibilities
- Working as part of the multidisciplinary team focusing on the ward team. There may be opportunities to work in other areas of the department (theatre, endoscopy, recovery) as required.
- Admission and preparation of patients for surgical and endoscopy procedures.
- Recovery and discharge of patients following different anaesthetics.
- Recognises, responds to and appropriately manages emergency situations.
- Work autonomously in a nurse led unit.
- Maintaining accurate patient records on EPR.
- To assist with ordering and maintaining the clinical area.
