Job Summary
Your role as a Mental Health Practitioner will be to deliver therapeutic interventions such as CBT or solution‑focused techniques to children and young people, supporting families and schools in Central & West Lancashire. You will build trusted relationships, assess risk, safeguard children, and promote early support in educational settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 1‑to‑1 therapeutic interventions with children, families and groups.
- Assess mental health, evaluate risk and take appropriate action.
- Maintain safeguarding, risk management and communication practices.
- Collaborate with schools, families and multi‑agency partners.
- Support children with social, emotional or behavioural needs, including anxiety and mood disorders.
- Maintain professional registration and engage in ongoing learning.
Essential Criteria
- Relevant qualification such as EMHP, CYP IAPT, Registered Social Worker or Registered Mental Health Nurse.
- Experience delivering therapeutic interventions with children, families and groups, including parenting programmes.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, educational settings, capacity and consent (including Gillick competence).
- Excellent communication, organisational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to assess mental health risk and take appropriate action.
- Commitment to maintaining professional registration.
Desirable Criteria
- Teaching degree or Youth Mental Health First Aid training.
- Experience working in educational, social or health settings with vulnerable groups.
- Experience with group interventions and monitoring outcome measures.
- Experience with looked‑after children.
