Main duties of the job
- Provide Electrical expert knowledge on the operation and design of Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) installations.
- Provide expert building service knowledge such as Heat Pumps and Solar Power.
- Ensure the Trust is compliant with its statutory and regulatory estates requirements.
- Offer Electrical and Engineering technical advice to the Trust on estates related matters and broader engineering and building services.
- Develop the department’s existing good practices in Health and Safety, including risk assessment, safe work procedures, staff competencies and Healthcare Technical Memorandum (HTM) compliant permits to work.
- Support strategic planning of services with the Head of Estates, Estates and Compliance Manager and the wider department, identifying resource requirements to meet future service needs.
- Act as the HTM authorised person for key services – Electrical Low voltage systems 06‑02, High voltage systems 06‑03 and be fully conversant with HTM 06‑01 Electrical services supply and distribution.
- Collaborate closely with Authorising Engineers for HV‑LV works to ensure compliance with HTM 06‑02 and HTM 06‑3.
- Be familiar with other Healthcare Technical Memorandum guidance documents such as medical gases, ventilation, water safety, pressure systems and decontamination services.
Person Specification / Qualifications
- Driver, holding a valid UK driving licence.
- Good knowledge of personal responsibilities under Health and Safety requirements and legislation.
- Educated to Degree Level, HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Building services.
- Time‑served apprenticeship in City and Guilds practical training certificate as approved electrician or equivalent electrical services related technical qualification.
- Qualifications in Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 06‑01.
- Relevant experience managing a team of engineers.
- Knowledge of Mechanical Building Services.
- Knowledge of Air‑Sourced Heat Pumps.
- Qualifications in 1st aid.
