Job Summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is recruiting three substantive Consultant Oncologist posts (10 PAs) to join a large, dynamic and forward‑thinking oncology service.

The successful post holders will join an established and supportive consultant body delivering high quality systemic anti‑cancer therapy across multiple hospital sites. Tumour site subspecialty interests will be discussed at interview; however, experience in Breast, Lung, Urology or Hepatobiliary oncology is particularly welcomed. One of the three posts will be delivered predominantly at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust under an established service level agreement.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop a long term consultant career within a major cancer centre with strong MDT working, active clinical trials and close links to academic and research partners.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

  • Deliver specialist inpatient and outpatient oncology care, including independent consultant‑led clinics
  • Prescribe and manage systemic anti‑cancer treatments in line with Trust protocols
  • Participate fully in tumour site multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings across the Trust
  • Contribute to Acute Oncology services and inpatient ward attending commitments
  • Participate in the consultant on‑call rota (1 in 14)
  • Support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training and clinical supervision
  • Engage in clinical governance, audit and service development activity
  • Contribute to and support clinical research and trial recruitment, with opportunities to act as Principal Investigator
  • Develop subspecialty interests and, where appropriate, undertake additional leadership roles within the department

  • Specialist oncology and tumour site sub‑speciality experience

  • Participate in on‑call rota, manage inpatients, provide specialist liaison advice
  • Attend multiple outpatient clinics per week, support research and PI roles
  • Engage in multidisciplinary teams, quality meetings, audit and mortality meetings

Qualifications

  • GMC Registration with licence to practice OR GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months of obtaining CCT)
  • MRCP
  • FRCR (Clinical Oncology)
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check
  • Certificate of Sponsorship (if required)
  • UK professional registration

Benefits

Pay Scheme: Hospital Medical and Dental. Band: Consultant.

Salary: £109,725.00 – £145,478.00 per year.

Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Full‑Time.
