Responsible for strengthening and implementing the organisation’s Business Continuity Management Framework across critical oil and gas operations, ensuring alignment with recognised international standards such as ISO 22301, NCEMA requirements, and internal corporate governance standards.
This role supports high-availability, safety-critical operations where interruptions to production, utilities, logistics, control systems, or offshore activities can create immediate operational, safety, environmental, and commercial risks.
The position focuses on practical execution rather than administrative compliance, ensuring business continuity plans are embedded into operational workflows, recovery procedures, crisis response structures, and frontline execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation, enhancement, and ongoing improvement of the Business Continuity Management System (BCMS), ensuring practical usability across operational functions.
- Develop, review, and maintain a large portfolio of Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) covering critical business and operational functions.
- Integrate continuity planning into operational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), degraded mode operations, and structured recovery playbooks.
- Identify operational vulnerabilities and provide prioritised mitigation strategies based on business criticality, production assurance, and recovery impact.
- Support crisis management exercises, emergency response drills, and scenario-based simulations to strengthen organisational readiness.
- Clarify response roles, escalation pathways, and recovery responsibilities across offshore, onshore, and corporate teams.
- Track post-exercise findings and ensure improvement actions are implemented effectively.
- Prepare BCM reports, dashboards, resilience metrics, and assurance documentation for leadership review and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and technical stakeholders involved in resilience studies, continuity workshops, and operational risk reviews.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering such as Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Petroleum, or a related technical discipline.
- Additional certifications in Asset Management, Project Management, Operational Excellence, or Business Continuity are considered advantageous.
- Minimum 15 years of senior-level experience within oil and gas operations, preferably across both offshore and onshore production environments.
- Strong operational leadership background with preference for professionals who have held positions such as: Offshore Installation Manager (OIM)/ Offshore Operations Manager/ Production Manager/ Senior Operations Leader/ Asset Integrity or Operational Resilience Leader.
- Proven experience managing business continuity, operational resilience, or production assurance within high-risk operating environments.
- Strong exposure to safety-critical assets where downtime directly impacts production, personnel safety, and regulatory compliance.
