About the people and their home
People living here are an active, outdoorsloving group who enjoy walking, bike rides, horse riding, beach trips, holidays and days out to places like zoos, safari parks and National Trust sites. The approach is simple: if someone wants to try something and its safe, we make it happen. Set in beautiful countryside, there are plenty of scenic walks nearby. Because the area is quite rural, being able to drive is helpful, though nondrivers are still welcome.
Most people are fairly independent, but some need additional support or prompts. This can include personal care, preparing and cooking meals, staying hydrated, cleaning bedrooms and bathrooms, doing laundry and helping to maintain shared areas. Support with accessing the community is important too, as people enjoy choosing where they go and what they do.Some individuals use pictures or signs to communicate and are happy to teach Support Workers how to understand them.
Everything here is personcentred. People choose their activities, routines, friendships and places they like to visit.Everyone has their own aims and goals, and the support team plays a key role in helping them build confidence, develop new skills and achieve success in their own way.
