SMART Recovery Global is an international organisation advancing evidence-based addiction recovery through a growing network of affiliates, volunteers, and partners worldwide. As the organisation enters a new phase of international growth, we are seeking a Head of Marketing, Communications & Partnerships to strengthen our global profile, expand partnerships and support sustainable income generation.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, this newly created role will contribute to strategy and focus on delivery across:

  • Global marketing and brand development
  • Communications and digital engagement
  • Partnerships, fundraising and income generation

The role focuses on hands-on delivery, helping position SMART Recovery Global as a leading international voice in recovery and social impact.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership Input

  • Develop and deliver integrated marketing, communications and partnership plans
  • Advise the CEO on brand positioning, reputation and sector influence
  • Increase SMART Recoverys global visibility and impact

Marketing & Communications

  • Lead global marketing campaigns and brand development
  • Oversee digital communications, website, social media and thought leadership content
  • Manage media engagement and support CEO presentations and public engagement
  • Use audience insight and analytics to improve reach and engagement

Partnerships & Income Generation

  • Build pipelines for trusts, foundations, donors, corporate and international funding opportunities
  • Develop funding proposals and partnership pitches
  • Build and manage relationships with strategic partners and funders

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Strengthen relationships across the global affiliate network
  • Develop partnerships within recovery, public health, research and social impact sectors
  • Represent SMART Recovery Global at events where appropriate

First-Year Success Measures

Within 12 months, the successful candidate will help deliver:

  • A global marketing and communications strategy
  • A fundraising and partnership pipeline
  • 12+ media placements or thought leadership outputs
  • Growth in digital engagement, including:
    • 50% increase in website traffic
    • 40% increase in social media reach
  • Identification of 40+ prospective funders
  • Submission of 15+ funding applications
  • Securing 35 grants or strategic partnerships
  • Establishment of five key international partnerships
  • A compelling global communications narrative highlighting SMART Recoverys impact worldwide

Person Specification

Experience

  • Senior experience in marketing, communications, partnerships, and fundraising
  • Proven hands-on success securing grant, philanthropic and partnership funding.
  • Hands-on experience leading strategic campaigns and stakeholder engagement
  • NGO, charity or social impact sector experience desirable

Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills
  • Strategic thinker with strong delivery, hands-on capability
  • Strong relationship-building and partnership development skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote international environment.
  • Passion for evidence-based recovery and social impact.
