Project Engineer - Building

37.5 Hours per Week | Monday - Friday | 8:00am - 4:00pm
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 + Benefits
We are seeking an ambitious and motivated Project Engineer - Building to join a high-performing Engineering team delivering major infrastructure and building projects within a live operational environment.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to develop their career within the construction and building sector, working across a varied portfolio of technically challenging projects.
Reporting to the Project Manager - Building, the successful candidate will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of strategically important building and infrastructure projects.
Projects will include:
Building extensions and reconfigurations
Repairs and refurbishment works
Upgrades to operational facilities
Airside and landside construction projects
Building maintenance and improvement schemes
The role offers exposure to complex projects within a highly regulated and safety-critical environment.
Deliver front-line management and supervision of works in line with project requirements
Support the Project Manager with the logistical, technical, and commercial management of projects
Assist in the design, procurement, construction, delivery, and handover of projects
Act as the day-to-day point of contact for contractors and stakeholders
Coordinate daily and weekly project briefings, reporting, and lookahead schedules
Promote excellent health, safety, and environmental standards across projects
Assist in identifying and mitigating project and operational risks
Ensure projects are delivered to agreed cost, quality, and programme requirements
Ensure compliance with all statutory, planning, and regulatory obligations
Support troubleshooting and operational coordination activities
Participate in emergency response and operational resilience exercises where required
Promote continuous improvement and collaborative working across project teams
Minimum Level 6 qualification in a relevant Engineering / Building / Construction discipline
Minimum 3 years' experience within the construction or building sector
Experience working as part of a project delivery team, either client-side or contractor-side
Experience in:
Contractor and trade supervision
Record keeping and reporting
Quality Control / Quality Assurance systems
Health & Safety compliance
Producing works programmes and lookahead schedules
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Strong organisational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Full current driving licence and access to transport
Flexibility to support occasional out-of-hours works
Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
Project Management qualification
CSCS, CSR, SafePass or equivalent construction industry card
Experience within aviation or other safety-critical environments
Experience working with permit-to-work systems
Experience managing project budgets
Working knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, and ICT systems
Experience using AutoCAD, BIM, MS Project, or similar software
Knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and construction health & safety legislation
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Annual leave entitlement of 247.5 hours per annum (25 days annual leave plus 8 statutory NI public holidays, totalling 33 days)
6% employer pension contribution
6-month probationary period
