The Opportunity

An exciting contract opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design & Development Engineer to support the development of innovative drug delivery devices across a growing product pipeline.

You will play a key role in the design, analysis, and optimisation of high-volume medical devices, working from early prototype through to commercialisation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform technical assessments of drug delivery devices, including:
  • Tolerance analysis
  • Functional and performance modelling
  • FEA simulations
  • Develop detailed component and system designs using 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Produce engineering drawings from concept through to production tooling
  • Support Design for Manufacture (DFM/DFMA) reviews to ensure efficient production
  • Collaborate with suppliers to source and optimise components (e.g. moulded parts)
  • Contribute to material selection and evaluation for device components
  • Ensure compliance with internal Quality Management Systems
  • Support investigation and reporting of technical issues, complaints, or adverse events


Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience developing high-volume products, ideally within:
  • Medical devices
  • Drug delivery
  • Regulated manufacturing environments
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Solid understanding of core engineering principles:
  • Mechanics
  • Kinematics
  • Thermodynamics
  • Materials science
  • Experience with tolerance analysis and DFMA principles
  • Knowledge of assembly processes and manufacturing techniques
  • Familiarity with quality control and risk management in regulated environments
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills


Qualifications

  • Degree, MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
