Graduate Electrical Engineer
As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, you’ll join a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting the design, development, testing, and delivery of electrical systems used within advanced energy and power generation projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate looking to build both practical and theoretical engineering experience while working alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects.
You’ll gain exposure to a broad range of activities including design, commissioning, testing, manufacturing support, and system development.
Graduate Electrical Engineer responsibilities
- Support the design, implementation, and testing of electrical and communication systems.
- Assist with electrical system layouts, component selection, and engineering calculations.
- Help produce technical documentation including drawings, reports, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
- Participate in testing, fault finding, and troubleshooting activities.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
- Support manufacturing and assembly activities during project delivery phases.
- Gather and analyse data from tests and site activities to support engineering improvements.
- Contribute to technical discussions, design reviews, and problem-solving sessions.
- Assist in ensuring systems comply with relevant safety standards and engineering requirements.
- Work closely with engineers and technicians across a range of engineering disciplines.
- Support routine maintenance and inspection activities where required.
- Help maintain accurate engineering records and documentation.
Graduate Electrical Engineer requirements
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, General Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
- Strong understanding of core electrical engineering principles.
- Good problem-solving skills with an interest in practical engineering applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively within a team environment.
- Enthusiasm for renewable energy, sustainability, and emerging technologies.
- Willingness to learn and develop within a hands-on engineering environment.
Desirable
- Previous placement, internship, university project, or practical experience within engineering environments.
- Exposure to industrial electrical systems, renewables, hydrogen technologies, or power systems.
- Familiarity with engineering software such as AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
- Understanding of low voltage or medium voltage electrical systems.
- Participation in engineering competitions, student projects, or technical societies.
