Role Overview

NEOS Engineering are seeking an experienced After Sales Manager to lead the aftersales operations team at our client's Letchworth depot. This is a key leadership position responsible for driving operational performance, profitability, and service excellence across field service and workshop operations.


The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering strong business performance through effective management of labour efficiency, parts turnover, and high-quality technical support, while ensuring full compliance with company Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards.


You will lead a multidisciplinary team and be accountable for achieving ambitious commercial targets, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring a seamless end-to-end service operation.


Key Responsibilities

Depot Leadership & Operations

  • Lead daily operations of the Letchworth depot, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant working practices
  • Oversee resource allocation and ensure effective workflow across workshop and field service teams
  • Maintain strong Health & Safety compliance across all depot activities



Performance & Efficiency

  • Monitor and manage utilisation and Work in Progress (WIP) levels
  • Ensure timely progression of jobs through the system, supporting invoicing within 30 days
  • Review depot performance metrics and drive continuous improvement



Technical & Operational Support

  • Provide expert technical guidance to engineers and customers
  • Support resolution of complex service and repair issues
  • Ensure high-quality technical standards across all aftersales activity



Commercial & Financial Management

  • Drive revenue growth across parts, service, and repair contracts
  • Manage depot P&L performance, identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Work closely with service controllers to ensure accurate repair estimates and conversion to commercial opportunities



Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop the aftersales team through structured performance reviews and appraisals
  • Conduct regular team meetings and toolbox talks
  • Support ongoing training and development to maintain technical capability



Customer & Service Excellence

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through proactive communication
  • Act as escalation point for customer queries, disputes, and service issues
  • Ensure a consistently high standard of customer-focused service delivery



Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in an aftersales, service, workshop, or operations management role
  • Strong background in heavy plant, construction equipment, or similar engineering environment
  • Experience managing teams and driving operational performance
  • Strong commercial awareness with P&L responsibility
  • Excellent technical understanding and problem-solving ability
  • Strong leadership, communication, and customer relationship skills
