Our client is a well-established international energy company with significant physical exposure across crude oil and refined products, operating critical infrastructure across the UK and Europe.
Reasonability for executing all activities involved in the operations and scheduling of refined product transport vessels operating on behalf of the company, by performing duties in accordance with safety and environmental standards. The role includes coverage for the scheduling of the Mainline pipeline and all associated activities.
Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Scheduling and management of the movement of refined products with multiple origins and destinations via multi-grade coastal vessels and pipelines.
- Ensuring fulfilment of company obligations to suppliers and customers, while protecting company interests within the role’s area of responsibility.
- Entering cargo nomination data into trading and accounting systems. Liaising with internal Finance and Tax functions, as well as assigned terminals, as required. Submitting customs declarations to external service providers for imports into Ireland and Northern Ireland.
- Continuously working to optimise voyages and berthing schedules, while minimising unplanned costs, including dead freight and demurrage.
- Working closely with traders once deals are concluded and with Vetting to clear vessels. Appointing inspectors for quality and quantity and liaising with the Credit department where letters of credit are required.
- Conducting analysis of logistics activities to identify efficiencies or commercial opportunities and maintain maximum asset utilisation.
- Using an established professional network to gather relevant information and identify new strategic relationships and business opportunities.
- Being available to respond effectively to urgent calls and emails outside of core hours (24-hour coverage) due to the nature of the operational role.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- 2-5 years experience within the Oil industry
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Strong industry knowledge and understanding of industry standards and their commercial impact, as well as market trends and drivers, competitor markets, terminals, logistics, and refinery operations within the area of responsibility.
- Excellent IT skills, with the ability to perform cost analysis, mental calculations, and deliver clear presentations.
- Self-starter with a high degree of urgency, integrity, and reliability. Action-oriented with a strong sense of inquisitiveness. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Collaborative and able to work effectively with multiple groups, including other business units and senior management. A strong team worker who aims to build commonality and encourage new and innovative team solutions.
- Stress-tolerant and able to respond constructively to challenges, working effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Highly attentive to detail and capable of seeing tasks through to full completion. Able to identify discrepancies in data and reports.
- Able to interpret complex data and extract the most relevant information to support appropriate decision-making. Capable of developing well-thought-out, workable solutions.
