We are looking for a motivated and strategic thinker to join our Transport Strategy and Policy team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of transport across South Yorkshire, helping deliver a more connected, sustainable and efficient network for residents, businesses and visitors.
You will work in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment alongside internal teams, local authorities, and national partners to influence transport priorities and deliver meaningful change across the region.

About the role
As a Transport Policy Officer, you will support the development of transport policies and strategies that contribute to an integrated transport system across South Yorkshire. This may include areas such as bus, rail, tram, highways or active travel.
You will:
- Help develop and shape transport policy aligned with regional priorities
- Support the delivery and ongoing development of the Local Transport Plan
- Work with partners to identify opportunities and improve transport connectivity
- Prepare clear briefings and reports to support decision‑making
- Use research, data and insight to inform policy development
- Contribute to projects that improve how people travel across the region
This is a varied role that offers the opportunity to influence real‑world transport solutions and be part of key regional initiatives.
About you
You are a proactive and organised individual with a strong interest in transport, policy and regional development. You enjoy working collaboratively and are confident communicating ideas to a range of audiences.
You will bring:
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- The ability to clearly communicate complex information
- Experience working with stakeholders or contributing to projects
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A collaborative approach and the confidence to contribute ideas
An interest in public policy, transport, or local government would be beneficial.
