Responsibilities
Offer psychological interventions and provide input from a psychological perspective to individuals in prison experiencing difficulties with mental health and/or substance use.
- Develop trauma‑informed practice informed by current research.
- Design and deliver creative support strategies for men and women where discussing problems may feel difficult.
- Supervise and oversee the work of Assistant Psychologists.
- Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team, including nursing staff, to facilitate integrated care.
- Contribute to the development of an evidence base for psychological interventions within the prison.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in Psychology.
- Experience providing therapy in a forensic or criminal justice setting.
- Evidence of UK residency required to meet prison vetting standards.
Requirements & Vetting
- Security vetting; DBS check required and re‑checked every three years.
- Must be able to register with the DBS Automatic Update Service and update DBS certificate annually.
