SLB Cambridge Research (SCR) is part of SLB’s global network of research and engineering centres. SCR is a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment with state-of-the-art research and computing facilities. We work on applied research projects in the physical sciences to meet the current and future challenges of the industry.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Development Technician to become part of the Experimental Design and Support (EDS) group within the organisation to assist in the design, manufacture and modification of experimental equipment across the site.
You will bring a mechanical engineering background, with hands‑on experience in mechanical assembly and systems involving hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps and fluid handling together with basic electrical skills applicable to experimental and test equipment. Experience in welding and/or 3D printing would be advantageous. While strong practical skills are essential, training will be provided where required, and we particularly welcome applicants who demonstrate enthusiasm, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new techniques and technologies. We will consider applications from people who can demonstrate experience in the majority of the skills listed below.
This is a full‑time, permanent, on‑site role based in Cambridge, reporting to the EDS Manager, where you will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team working at the forefront of technology development for the energy sector, contributing to projects spanning emerging low‑carbon solutions alongside established oil and gas applications.
