Company Description

West & Reid specialises in high-end bespoke kitchens and furniture. We design and manufacture everything from our studio and workshop at Kennington Park Workspace, just a few minutes’ walk from Oval Tube station. We produce work of exceptional quality for clients who genuinely care about craftsmanship, materials, detail, and thoughtful design. Every project is bespoke, and everything we make is carefully considered from both a design and manufacturing perspective.

Role Description

This is a full-time, studio based site role for a Furniture Designer based proficient in CAD based software. It is predominantly a technical role, this is not a sales designer position. You will use Solidworks and Swood to model kitchens and furniture, and produce concept designs and technical production drawings. Day-to-day responsibilities include sketching, rendering, and technical drawing, along with working closely with the makers team in the workshop to ensure designs are brought to life with precision. There will be the opportunity for project management and client interaction if desired.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years’ experience using SolidWorks within a bespoke furniture environment – ideally kitchens – and experience with SWOOD would be an advantage.

However, we are also open to candidates who may not meet all of the above criteria, provided they can demonstrate strong technical ability, excellent problem-solving skills, and a high level of competency with CAD systems and manufacturing thinking.

We value technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to learn quickly just as highly as years of experience. We’re particularly interested in people who:

  • enjoy solving technical problems
  • are detail-focused and organised
  • understand how things actually get made
  • are interested in improving systems and workflows

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Around 5 years in bespoke furniture/joinery/interiors
  • Strong SolidWorks capability
  • SWOOD experience preferred
  • Experience producing production-ready manufacturing drawings
  • Good understanding of bespoke manufacturing and workshop processes

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Furniture Design, Product Design, or a related discipline
  • Strong understanding of furniture construction, joinery, and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent technical drawing skills, technical aptitude and problem-solving ability
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
  • Proficiency with CAD/design software
