We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and forward-thinking Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our Neurology team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic clinician who is passionate about delivering expert, patient‑centred care and advancing specialist practice within a rapidly evolving field.
As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will provide advanced clinical expertise, leadership, and support to patients living with a range of neurological conditions. You will act as an autonomous practitioner, offering specialist assessment, complex care planning, and ongoing management across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.
This role is ideal for a nurse who thrives on clinical challenge, values collaborative working, and is committed to improving outcomes and experiences for people with neurological disorders. You will play a pivotal role in service development, education, and quality improvement, helping to shape and enhance the neurology pathway for the future.

Main duties of the job
Deliver expert clinical assessment, advice, and management for patients with neurological conditions.
Work autonomously while collaborating closely with consultants, AHPs, and wider MDT colleagues.
Provide specialist education, support, and counselling to patients, families, and carers.
Lead and contribute to service development initiatives, audits, and evidence‑based practice improvements.
Act as a clinical resource for nursing teams, offering training, mentorship, and professional leadership.
Support smooth patient pathways, ensuring timely access to specialist care and continuity across settings.
Participate in research, innovation, and the development of clinical guidelines.
Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse
- Degree in healthcare related subject
- Evidence of Masters level learning
- Post‑basic qualification in cancer/palliative care or relevant specialist subjec
- Advanced Communications Skills training or prepared to work towards.
- Psychological skills training- Level 2 or above
- MSc Clinical Examination
- MSc Research qualification
Knowledge and Expertise
- In depth understanding of evidence based practice and ability to critically appraise and implement research findings into practice.
- In depth understanding of evidence based practice
- Extensive knowledge of national standards and policies within specialist field.
- Evidence of continued professional development
Experience
- Relevant post registration experience, at Band 6 or above, in cancer, palliative care or the specialty
- Experience of teaching
- Leadership and management experience
- Experience of multi‑professional working.
- Evidence of advanced communications skills.
- Ability to lead and influence change

- HNA training/Experience of undertaking HNA
