Job Overview

On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit a Technical Writer on an initial 6-month contract.

Role Details

Contract: 6 months, Monday – Friday, 35 hours per weekPay: £45 per hour via umbrellaLocation: Filton (60% onsite after training)IR35 Status: InsideSecurity Clearance: BPSS

Responsibilities

  • Manage all authoring activities related to the AMM and TSM for Landing Gears.
  • Analyse inputs (drawings, design modifications) to define the impact on the maintenance manuals delivered to airlines.
  • Manage source data: planning, technical verification and incorporation.
  • Provide answers in the Tech request tool to customer queries and relevant data to meet customer maintenance and operational needs, ensuring information aligns with Airbus policies, processes and procedures.
  • Monitor and steer subcontracted maintenance authoring activities.
  • Lead and chair regular review meetings with Design Office and local subcontractors, managing workload and priorities to deliver tasks on time, within cost and quality expectations.
  • Deliver documentation content (creations and updates) in accordance with specifications, contractual commitments, approved schedules, quality standards and budget objectives.
  • Secure fulfilment of safety rules, quality process and technical data guidelines.
  • Ensure customer support by answering daily queries and implementing documentation changes when required.
  • Support daily on-service issues and be proactive in case of aircraft on ground or airline concerns.
  • Propose continuous improvement for technical data processes, documentation production activities and IT tools.
  • Represent the department at decision‑making meetings internationally and provide feedback on customer needs.
  • Achieve Quality Authorisation to verify/validate technical data products in accordance with M20528 (C1 Incoming Inspection).

Qualifications & Essential Skills

  • Educated Master’s degree or equivalent.
  • Aerospace engineering / aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance, systems and production processes and procedures.
  • Awareness of international authoring standards and tools.
  • Experience in aircraft configuration management.
  • Dynamic, proactive and positive mindset.
  • Risk and opportunity management skills.
  • Ability to follow‑up activities.
  • Strong team player with good organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and assertiveness.
