An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established small animal practice located in Loughborough, a vibrant university town with excellent transport links across the Midlands and beyond.

This role offers the chance to work within a modern, well-equipped practice supported by a collaborative and friendly team, while benefiting from strong clinical mentorship and opportunities for career progression.

About the Practice

The practice is a purpose-built, standalone small animal clinic located in a busy residential area with convenient on-site parking. It benefits from excellent motorway and rail connections, providing easy access to Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham, London, and the nearby Peak District National Park.

The clinic is well equipped with modern diagnostic and surgical facilities, enabling the team to deliver high standards of veterinary care.

Facilities include:

  • Digital X-ray
  • Digital endoscopy
  • Ultrasound
  • In-house laboratory equipment
  • Advanced surgical and orthopaedic equipment

  • The practice sees a wide range of medical and surgical cases, including more complex procedures performed in-house, providing excellent learning opportunities for veterinary surgeons looking to expand their clinical skills.

    The Team

    You will join a supportive and collaborative clinical team consisting of:

  • 5 Veterinary Surgeons
  • 6 Registered Veterinary Nurses
  • 2 Student Veterinary Nurses
  • 1 Veterinary Care Assistant
  • 5 Client Care Advisors
  • A dedicated Practice Manager

  • The veterinary team includes experienced clinicians who actively mentor newer colleagues. The culture within the practice is highly supportive, with a strong emphasis on communication, daily team collaboration, and continuous professional development.

    The Role

    This position offers a balanced mix of consultations and surgical procedures, allowing veterinary surgeons to develop confidence across both medical and surgical cases.

    Veterinary surgeons are encouraged to expand their skill sets, explore areas of special interest, and contribute to the ongoing development of clinical standards within the practice.

    Consultations are scheduled for 20 minutes as standard, allowing sufficient time to provide high-quality patient care and build strong relationships with clients.

    Working Pattern

  • Full-time 4-day working week
  • 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (9:00am 12:00pm)
  • No out-of-hours or on-call requirements
  • Part-time hours can be considered for the right candidate

  • Candidate Requirements

    The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a BVSc or equivalent veterinary degree recognised in the UK
  • Be RCVS registered (or eligible to register)
  • Have experience working within small animal practice
  • Be confident performing consultations and routine surgery
  • Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Show enthusiasm for professional development and clinical growth
