About the role
Were looking for a detailfocused and proactive Highway Records Officer to join our Highway Records & Definitive Map Team. Youll play a key role in maintaining and improving the Councils statutory highway records, ensuring that information about the extent of publicly maintained highway is accurate, reliable and legally robust.
Your work will include responding to CON29 search requests, investigating highway boundaries,maintainingadoption records, and supporting the delivery of new highway schemes.Youllanalyse historic and legal documents, carry out site visits, and use GIS and digital mapping systems to keep our records up to date.
This is a varied and rewarding role that blends technical investigation, customer service, mapping, and partnership working.Youllhelp ensure that the Council meets its statutory duties and provides authoritative information to residents, developers, legalprofessionalsand internal teams.
About you
Youll be someone who enjoys problemsolving, research and working with maps and legal information. Youll have strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to interpret historic records, plans and boundary evidence.
Youllalso be confident communicating with a wide range of customers and stakeholders, including landowners, developers, parishcouncilsand internal colleagues.Youllbe organised, able to manage your workload to meet publishedtimeframes, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Experience in highways, transport, records management, land charges, planning, legalservicesor a similar technical environment is beneficial, but not essential if you candemonstratethe right skills and aptitude.
