Full‑time Consultant Interventional Radiologist (Cross‑site)

This role is based at Aintree Hospital and Royal Liverpool Hospital, covering a wide range of interventional procedures including peripheral arterial interventions, EVAR, embolisation, hepatobiliary interventions, dialysis access, TACE, ablation (MWA, IRE, cryoablation), SIRT and other typical IR procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a broad spectrum of interventional radiology procedures across the Trust’s two hospitals.
  • Provide 24‑hour IR cover on the level‑I trauma centre service in accordance with RCR requirements.
  • Contribute to the main interventional radiology department through daily consultant duties, including "IR consultant of the day", vetting, US intervention, vascular/IO reporting, and angio‑suite sessions.
  • Participate in the IR on‑call rota (currently 1:8 at each base site, with possible adjustments).
  • Deliver IR opinions and cover for percutaneous drainages and pseudo‑aneurysm management during the Wednesday Pancreatic MDTM.
  • In addition to clinical work, support department management, training, and research activities over 1.5 allocated SPAs.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Completed formal training in interventional radiology.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform a wide range of general and emergency interventional procedures.
  • Strong clinical leadership and teamwork skills, with experience in a university teaching hospital environment preferred.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and research within interventional radiology.

Working Environment

The post is in a well‑established teaching hospital environment with a multidisciplinary team of 12 dedicated consultant interventional radiologists. The position offers cross‑site coverage, a collaborative working culture, and opportunities for advanced procedural work.
