The Role
As Head of Data Science and Analytical AI Delivery, you will lead the design and delivery of AI solutions that improve patient outcomes, optimise operations and support clinical decision‑making. You will shape the AI and analytics strategy across areas such as diagnostic imaging, clinical risk, patient journeys and practice performance. Working across clinical, operations, product and tech, you will ensure solutions are accurate, compliant and deliver real value. As part of the D&A leadership team, you will influence how we use data and AI across BDC, driving impactful, ethical and scalable initiatives.
This role combines strategy and hands‑on delivery, requiring strong technical leadership, stakeholder influence and the ability to build and develop a high‑performing team.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead the Analytical AI strategy, supporting clinical outcomes, operations and patient experience
- Work closely with Data, Tech and the wider business, influencing at senior level across BDC and the Market Unit
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team, building capability, career pathways and a strong delivery culture
- Collaborate with stakeholders to shape priorities, roadmaps and commercially impactful solutions
- Act as the AI ambassador, driving understanding, adoption and value across the business
- Set the vision and operating model for AI and advanced analytics, aligned to clinical, operational and commercial goals
- Drive a data‑led culture and embed AI into decision making
- Bring external insight and best practice, and develop strong partnerships across industry
- Ensure responsible, ethical and scalable AI delivery
- Own end‑to‑end delivery of AI solutions (forecasting, optimisation, predictive models, etc.)
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure and aligned to governance and regulatory standards
- Lead best practice across MLOps, model governance and lifecycle management
- Work with complex healthcare data to deliver meaningful, real‑world impact
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong technical background in AI/ML (Python, SQL, cloud – Azure/GCP/Snowflake)
- Experience with MLOps, scalable ML infrastructure and model governance
- Strong stakeholder management – able to influence both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Experience working closely with business teams, aligning AI solutions to priorities
- Experience building and developing data teams, including capability frameworks
- Curious, adaptable, accountable, with a focus on continuous improvement
Desirable
- Able to communicate complex AI concepts to senior stakeholders
- Experience leading cross‑functional teams and remote teams
- Experience delivering AI/ML solutions in healthcare / regulated environments
- Exposure to complex healthcare data (e.g. clinical, imaging)
- Agile delivery experience (e.g. Azure DevOps)
- Passion for ethical AI and working within governance frameworks
- Strategic mindset with a focus on growth and innovation
- Relevant degree (e.g. Data Science, AI, Computer Science)
