Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver mechanical engineering studies across multiple project phases, from front-end development through to commissioning and operational support
  • Develop and review mechanical designs, calculations, drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with safety, quality and regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical input on complex mechanical handling systems, bulk or powder-based processes, and specialist mechanical equipment in controlled environments
  • Interface effectively with multidisciplinary teams, supply chain partners and internal specialists to ensure robust, coordinated solutions
  • Support and mentor junior engineers, contributing to technical assurance and continuous improvement within the team

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
  • Significant post-graduate experience delivering mechanical engineering design within the nuclear sector or another regulated industry
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design through all lifecycle stages, including design substantiation, supplier document review and site support
  • Background in producing mechanical solutions that consider manufacture, installation, commissioning, operation and eventual decommissioning
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to achieve the necessary security clearance
