Our client, a well-established Law business based in Peterborough, is looking to recruit a Commercial Litigation Solicitor to join their team on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will manage a broad caseload of commercial disputes, work closely with partners on complex and high-value matters, and play an active role in client development and relationship management.
Peterborough, Cambridgeshire – office based.
Salary: £50,000 – £70,000.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 09.00‑17.30.
Key responsibilities
- Managing a varied caseload of commercial litigation matters with appropriate supervision.
- Advising clients on a range of disputes including:
- Breach of contract claims
- Shareholder and partnership disputes
- Professional negligence
- Fraud and asset recovery
- Debt recovery
- Injunctive relief
- Commercial property disputes
- Insolvency‑related litigation
- Conducting litigation in the Court.
- Drafting pleadings, applications, witness statements, settlement agreements, and legal correspondence.
- Managing disclosure exercises and trial preparation.
- Instructing and liaising with counsel, experts, and third parties.
- Attending mediations, settlement meetings, and court hearings.
- Providing commercially focused, practical legal advice to clients.
- Maintaining strong client relationships and identifying opportunities for business development.
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members where appropriate.
- Ensuring accurate time recording, billing, and file management compliance.
Skills and experience
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
- Approximately 5 years' PQE in commercial litigation.
- Strong working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR).
- Experience managing commercial disputes with a degree of autonomy.
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and client care skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and work to tight deadlines.
- Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
