Our client, a well-established Law business based in Peterborough, is looking to recruit a Commercial Litigation Solicitor to join their team on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will manage a broad caseload of commercial disputes, work closely with partners on complex and high-value matters, and play an active role in client development and relationship management.

Peterborough, Cambridgeshire – office based.

Salary: £50,000 – £70,000.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 09.00‑17.30.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing a varied caseload of commercial litigation matters with appropriate supervision.
  • Advising clients on a range of disputes including:
    • Breach of contract claims
    • Shareholder and partnership disputes
    • Professional negligence
    • Fraud and asset recovery
    • Debt recovery
    • Injunctive relief
    • Commercial property disputes
    • Insolvency‑related litigation
  • Conducting litigation in the Court.
  • Drafting pleadings, applications, witness statements, settlement agreements, and legal correspondence.
  • Managing disclosure exercises and trial preparation.
  • Instructing and liaising with counsel, experts, and third parties.
  • Attending mediations, settlement meetings, and court hearings.
  • Providing commercially focused, practical legal advice to clients.
  • Maintaining strong client relationships and identifying opportunities for business development.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members where appropriate.
  • Ensuring accurate time recording, billing, and file management compliance.

Skills and experience

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
  • Approximately 5 years' PQE in commercial litigation.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR).
  • Experience managing commercial disputes with a degree of autonomy.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and client care skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and work to tight deadlines.
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
