Lead Mechanical Engineer – Hammersmith, West London – FM Service Provider – Up to £50,000
CBW Staffing Solutions are currently recruiting a Lead Mechanical Engineer to be based at a large, high-profile healthcare environment in Hammersmith, West London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased Lead Engineer to take ownership of all planned and reactive maintenance across a complex and fast‑paced site. The successful candidate will lead a team of day and shift engineers while remaining hands‑on and actively involved on the tools. Working within a critical environment, the role requires a strong understanding of building services maintenance, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage day‑to‑day engineering operations while maintaining high compliance and service standards. The site offers a varied and technically challenging environment with long‑term stability and progression opportunities.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of day and shift engineers
- Carry out and oversee all planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Attend and resolve reactive maintenance tasks across the site
- Ensure all mechanical plant operates efficiently and safely
- Work on mechanical systems including: Pumps, Motors, AHUs, FCUs, Pipework, HVAC systems, Pressurisation units
- Support basic electrical and building services maintenance where required
- Monitor subcontractors and specialist service providers
- Ensure all statutory compliance and health & safety procedures are adhered to
- Manage site logbooks, RAMS, and maintenance documentation
- Support the Contract Manager with day‑to‑day engineering operations
- Act as the main point of contact for engineering issues on site
- Assist with fault finding and system diagnostics across M&E plant
- Maintain excellent working relationships with the client and on‑site teams
Hours
Monday to Friday
08:00am – 05:00pm
Requirements
- Mechanically qualified (NVQ / City & Guilds Level 2/3 or equivalent – HVAC, Plumbing or Mechanical qualifications all considered)
- Strong background in commercial building services maintenance
- Previous experience leading engineering teams
- Mechanically strong with good all‑round building services knowledge
- Experience working within critical or healthcare‑style environments advantageous
- Hands‑on engineer willing to work on the tools daily
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Hard‑working, reliable and client‑facing
