Principal Designer (CDM & Building Regulations)

A leading facilities management organisation is seeking an experienced Principal Designer to support the delivery of high-profile construction and infrastructure projects within a central government portfolio. This is a strategic role focused on ensuring compliance, driving best practice, and embedding a strong health and safety culture across the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations 2015, UK Building Regulations, and relevant H&S legislation
• Provide expert guidance across all RIBA stages, from concept through to completion
• Advise and coordinate stakeholders to meet statutory duties
• Undertake site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
• Manage risk registers and Health & Safety Files
• Deliver training and promote a proactive safety culture

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Principal Designer
• Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 and Building Regulations
• APS membership (IMaPS desirable or working towards)
• Experience in complex construction projects
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to obtain SC-level security clearance
