The Opportunity
A well-established and progressive building services consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support continued growth across its Midlands and West Midlands teams.
This is a technically driven, client‑facing role where you will take ownership of mechanical MEP design delivery across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will work on sustainability‑led developments, contributing to innovative, low‑carbon solutions across sectors including healthcare, education, residential, commercial, and industrial.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of mechanical building services design on a range of projects.
- Act as Project Leader on selected schemes, ensuring quality, programme, and budget targets are met.
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams on complex developments.
- Attend client meetings and deliver technical presentations.
- Mentor and support junior engineers within the team.
- Produce and review design calculations, technical specifications, and drawings.
- Ensure compliance with UK regulations, British Standards, and industry best practice.
- Contribute to improving technical standards and engineering quality within the team.
- Build strong client relationships to support repeat business opportunities.
About You
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services Engineering (or HNC/HND with relevant experience).
- Working towards or holding Chartered status (CIBSE / IET).
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in mechanical building services design.
- Proficient in software such as Revit, Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, heating/cooling design, and mechanical infrastructure.
- Knowledge of renewable technologies and low‑carbon design principles.
- Understanding of BREEAM and sustainable building design.
- Familiarity with HTMs (desirable).
- Awareness of electrical systems to support multidisciplinary coordination.
- Strong communication skills with experience in client‑facing environments.
- Ability to manage workload independently and deliver to tight deadlines.
