Job Description:

Purpose

Reporting to the Principal Structural Engineer or Lead, the Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for carrying out Structural Engineering for Oceaneering. This role plays an essential part of the success of the business by ensuring that the company continues to drive innovation and deliver commercially viable products, in order to achieve the company’s objectives of growth and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with resolving technical queries and ensure satisfactory design changes captured by change control.
  • Produce calculations required for the role and participate in design reviews.
  • Experience in approving, checking and preparing design/engineering documentation.
  • Produce documentation deliverables for inclusion in workpack or design books on time to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare engineering, construction and equipment scopes.
  • Conduct site surveys in offshore locations.
  • Oversee engineering personnel to ensure scope delivery and technical quality of work within the discipline team.
  • Achieve target and completion of engineering documentation within budget and schedule, ensuring all work aligns with priorities outlined in the plan.
  • Estimate engineering and construction scope for man‑hours and equipment.
  • Identify scope changes and assist in raising necessary support documents.
  • Manage 3rd‑party suppliers in the execution of engineering delivery.
  • Act as focal point for assigned projects and jobs, managing client contact where required.
  • Aware of commercial, contractual and administrative aspects of engineering.
  • Support preparation of pre‑qualification responses, proposals, tenders, and programmes for new and existing customers.
  • Participate in incident investigations as required.
  • Manage direct reports’ performance.
  • Comply with relevant codes of conduct.

Safety

  • Ensure all work complies with company and contract HSE policies and procedures.
  • Report incidents, near misses, hazards, unsafe acts or conditions, and positive behaviour to a responsible person immediately, and participate in incident investigations when required.
  • Actively participate in HSE meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, audits, and other relevant meetings.
  • Perform work responsibly, taking account of environmental, social and economic requirements.

Other

  • Perform assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems on the Company.
  • Eliminate waste in whatever form by suggesting more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contributing to continuous environmental improvement.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has direct supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Holds an engineering degree in a relevant discipline and is a Chartered Engineer with sufficient post‑graduate experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Competent in specifying modifications to existing structures/equipment or designing new structures/equipment, including fabrication and constructability techniques; lifting aid design, installation techniques and LOLER lift plans; application of structural analysis packages; survey techniques; and other associated modifications within the oil and gas industry.
  • Conversant and knowledgeable with respect to current and new legislation and standards.
  • Adhere to and comply with company engineering procedures, industry, international and client codes and standards.
  • Foster positive and effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Proficient in applicable design software systems and Microsoft packages.
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Sound time and resource management skills.
  • Conscious of business requirements and adaptable to changing environment and business needs.
  • Prepare and deliver appropriate presentations.
  • Able to travel in the UK and abroad, as well as offshore.
