As a Principal Structural Engineer at Stantec in Glasgow or Edinburgh, you will lead and own complex building projects across the UK, influencing decisions early and building strong client relationships while working within a multidisciplinary team of Civil, MEP, Environmental, Energy and Water specialists.
About The Role
You will lead the delivery of structural engineering design from early concept through to construction, setting the technical direction, ensuring quality across outputs and coordinating with the wider project teams to deliver cohesive, buildable solutions. You will act as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders, representing the team throughout the project lifecycle and ensuring that requirements are clearly understood and met. Internally you will provide technical leadership and oversight, supporting engineers and technicians while maintaining high standards across design and delivery. You will also manage project and team resources, oversee programme and commercial performance, and contribute actively to business development by managing client relationships, preparing bids, and identifying growth opportunities.

About You
- Degree qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent)
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (or progressing toward chartership) with IStructE or ICE
- Strong track record delivering building structures across multiple sectors
- Experience contributing to business development, bids, and client relationship management
- Interested in playing a broader role in team and business growth
