Some project management roles are primarily about oversight.
This one is about ownership.
Grõ Careers is supporting a confidential search for Senior Project Manager to join an established, design-led workplace business delivering office fit-outs, refurbishments and consultancy-led workplace projects across the UK. The company has built a strong reputation in the sector since 2009 and has clear growth ambitions over the next five years.
They are looking for a Senior Project Manager who can bring calm control, commercial clarity and delivery discipline to live projects – someone comfortable operating from late pre-construction through to handover, final account and defects.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take responsibility for ensuring projects are set up properly, run well, and close out cleanly.
The remit covers the full delivery process, including:
- building and challenging the initial construction programme
- identifying risk, opportunity and shortfalls before works commence
- supporting contractor selection and critically reviewing project viability
- coordinating post-handover mobilisation, procurement and long‑lead items
- leading weekly site and subcontractor meetings
- managing variations, valuations, invoicing and commercial communication
- overseeing project close‑out, final accounts, retentions and defect resolution
This is a senior, highly visible role for someone who likes being close to both the client and the construction reality.
What We Are Looking For
The strongest candidates are likely to bring:
- a demonstrable understanding of construction processes, materials, methods and industry standards
- confidence with procurement, JCT contracts and health & safety
- strong written and verbal communication
- the ability to negotiate change, manage disputes and keep multiple parties aligned
- sound commercial judgement and the discipline to keep projects financially on track
At least two years’ experience in project management or site management, ideally within commercial construction, with D&B experience relevant depending on level. A construction-related degree is welcomed but not essential.
Why Thi Move Is Worth Considering
For the right person, this is an opportunity to join a well‑regarded workplace business in a role with real breadth and accountability.
It will appeal to someone who wants:
- direct exposure to senior leadership
- meaningful ownership rather than partial oversight
- a stronger platform for the next phase of their PM career
- a business where delivery standards, client experience and commercial performance all matter
This is not a role for someone who wants to sit slightly removed from the outcome.
It is for someone who wants to be the person trusted to deliver it.
Practicalities
- Location: Central London
- Sector: Workplace design & build / office fit‑out / refurbishment
- Package: Up to £90k + competitive bonus / benefits
- Reporting line: Managing Director
