About the role

Are you passionate about harnessing the power of Microsoft 365 to drive digital transformation in local government? We are seeking a talented and motivated Microsoft 365 Developer to join our Digital & IT team. You will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing innovative solutions that enable the Council to maximise the benefits of its investment in enterprise technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert on the design, development, and integration of business systems.
  • Design, develop, and deliver technical solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint, Teams, and related technologies.
  • Develop and support bespoke Microsoft 365 applications, interfaces, data migration scripts, business intelligence, and reporting solutions.
  • Lead on systems analysis, solution architecture, and implementation planning.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, partners, and suppliers to deliver business requirements.
  • Maintain technical documentation and ensure compliance with Council policies and industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, ensuring service continuity.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of digital services and IT development processes.

Essential skills & experience

  • Strong understanding of enterprise business processes and experience developing with Office 365 services (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Azure AD, Microsoft Power Platform) in a local government or similar environment.
  • Experience in configuration and development of SharePoint, Teams, and Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Proven track record in delivering business process solutions and digital transformation projects.
  • Experience in data migration, system configuration, and integration between business applications.
  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Significant practical and technical training in Microsoft 365, .NET, SQL Server, SharePoint, Teams, Power Platform, and related technologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Desirable skills & experience

  • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting, Azure development (e.g., Azure Functions), and integration with third‑party applications.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD, Azure DevOps, GIT, and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools, custom workflow and form development, and automation (Power Automate, Azure LogicApps).
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship‑building skills.

Personal qualities

  • Professional, solution‑oriented, and focused on business and customer outcomes.
  • Able to provide pragmatic advice and guidance, and build effective working relationships.
