About the role

We’re looking for an experienced, detail-driven, relationship-focused individual to join our team as Senior Bureau Analyst. The role includes managing complex client and supplier queries, processing change of tenancies, analysing utility invoices and consumption data, and producing detailed reports for clients across their energy portfolios.

Working closely with colleagues across Client Services, Procurement and Metering, our Senior Bureau Analyst will support the Bureau Team Manager. You will provide support in the maintenance of accurate client and site data, helping ensure that bureau processes are delivered efficiently and in line with agreed service levels. This is an important role in the ongoing management of client utility portfolios and contributing to continuous improvement in bureau systems, processes and opportunity.

Job Requirements

  • Experience working in the utilities industry (e.g. energy bureau, supplier, consultancy, or billing environment)
  • Strong understanding of utility billing structures and processes across electricity and gas (water knowledge beneficial)
  • Experience reviewing and analysing utility invoices, identifying issues, and liaising with suppliers where needed
  • Familiarity with key bureau processes such as Change of Tenancy (COT), supplier queries, meter readings, and billing validation
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets and producing client reports, with strong Excel or data analysis capability
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships and represent the Bureau team with clients, suppliers and internally
  • Confidence learning new systems and adapting as we continue to innovate and improve

Job Responsibilities

  • Providing an excellent client experience to internal and external stakeholders
  • Act as a senior escalation point for operational issues and complex supplier queries when required, including during periods when the Bureau Team Manager is unavailable.
  • Support the Bureau Team Manager in mentoring and guiding new and less experienced team members.
  • Provide guidance and quality assurance support for bureau deliverables produced by other analysts where required.
  • Handle client and supplier queries via all typical channels in line with internal KPI’s.
  • Generate batches of invoices, where required, analysing the costs and consumption against previous invoice periods, and looking for and reviewing anomalies.
  • Keep query and savings logs up to date.
  • Raise queries and resolve errors with suppliers when invoices are incorrect.
  • Process and follow up on change of tenancies.
  • Produce portfolio-wide reports and issue to clients accordingly.
  • Deal with any supplier-led disconnections through to resolution for clients.
  • Proactively identify and drive improvements in billing systems, bureau processes and operational workflows to help drive improvement in gross margin.
  • Support the Procurement team by providing them with relevant information when tenders are due and assist with resolving objections received by the Procurement team when supplies are changing supplier.
  • Ensure that core processes are documented and that efficiencies are identified and implemented.
  • Attend and contribute to client meetings with the Client Services team, representing the I&C Bureau team and providing technical bureau expertise where required.
  • Ensure invoice accuracy and tariff-based validation on all components of electricity and gas invoices have been completed within the team.
  • Maintain our client database with accurate and up-to-date information about your portfolio such as site lists, site names, client contact details, COT dates.
