About this opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounting Technician to join our Finance Unit and support the effective financial management of the Council. This role contributes to budget setting, ongoing budget monitoring, and year-end processes, providing accurate financial information to support informed decision-making across services. You will work closely with budget holders, promote effective use of financial systems, and provide flexible support across the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting budget setting, monitoring, and closure of accounts.
- Maintaining the general ledger, including processing journals and virements in line with Financial Regulations.
- Producing financial reports and analysis for finance managers, budget managers, and Members.
- Supporting and improving the use of financial systems, including delivering training to users.
- Providing flexible financial support to services across the Council as required.
