Market 36 Recruitment are working with a client in Braintree to recruit an experienced Compliance Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing organisation and play a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance across the business.

Reporting to the Head of Compliance, you will support the delivery of a risk-based compliance framework, ensuring adherence to FCA regulations, GDPR, Consumer Duty, and financial crime legislation.

This is a hands-on role involving compliance monitoring, policy development, and providing guidance to internal stakeholders.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Review insurance documentation for accuracy and compliance
  • Support FCA compliance monitoring and control testing
  • Manage complaints handling, reporting, and root cause analysis
  • Maintain governance registers and compliance records
  • Assist with regulatory reporting and audit preparation
  • Oversee insurer relationships, binder agreements, and due diligence
  • Support Consumer Duty and vulnerable customer requirements
  • Provide compliance advice to internal teams
  • Monitor and improve internal policies and procedures
  • Manage sanctions screening processes

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential
  • Experience in compliance, risk, audit, or regulated insurance environment
  • Strong knowledge of FCA regulations (ICOBS, SYSC, Consumer Duty)
  • Experience within an MGA or financial services environment
  • Understanding of GDPR and data protection
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines
Desirable
  • Compliance qualification (e.g. ICA)
  • Knowledge of compliance monitoring frameworks and audits
  • Experience supporting data protection or DPO activities

Hours: Mon‑Fri, 9am‑5pm. Hybrid working (3 days in the office)

Salary: £50,000 (DOE)
