Senior Clinical Fellow in Acute Medicine

We are looking for a Senior Clinical Fellow to join our Acute Care Unit (ACU), providing rapid and compassionate care to patients admitted to hospital during the first 48 hours of their stay. The role involves collaboration with Emergency Department, Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), primary care and other specialties, and includes out‑of‑hours cover to adult inpatients.
Job responsibilities
- Provide patient assessment, treatment and monitoring during the first 48 hours of admission.
- Collaborate with ED, SDEC, primary care and other speciality teams to deliver integrated care.
- Provide out‑of‑hours cover to adult inpatients.
- Support colleagues when short‑staffed or busy, including seeing patients in A&E before the ED team when medical admission is likely needed.
- Contribute to clinical governance, audit and continuous improvement initiatives.
Person specification
Education & Higher qualifications
- MBBS / MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
- Full GMC registration
- Permission to work in the UK (i.e., appropriate visa and/or work permit)
- Evidence of successful completion of Foundation Year 1 & 2 or equivalent
- Evidence of completion of CMT or equivalent
- MRCP Part 1
- MRCEM Part A (or equivalent)
- FRCPath Part 1
- Additional qualifications (e.g., Diploma in Medical Microbiology, MSc in Microbiology, Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene)
Management
- Good understanding of clinical governance
- Good understanding of audit principles
Communication and language skills
- Ability to develop good working relationships.
- Commitment to continuing personal development.

Salary
£44,170 to £67,610 a year (pro‑rata).
