Overview

We invite you to join our close‑knit team as an Associate Electrical Engineer providing outstanding design engineering services to the Group on a range of interesting projects, working closely with our Engineers and Associates. You will take ownership of delivering sustainable and innovative design solutions for building services projects led by the Manchester office, while also contributing to the delivery of international projects in our portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to leading the electrical team and take a project leadership role as required.
  • Communicate directly with clients, offering innovative design solutions and managing expectations. Further develop relationships with existing and new clients including contractors, architects and developers.
  • Prepare technical and financial proposals for new work.
  • Manage workload of engineers and technicians.
  • Prepare technical specifications.
  • Monitor financial performance of jobs and set up and manage job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing and expenditure.
  • Undertake detailed electrical engineering building services design and calculations, using Revit and Amtech software; support your knowledge of building design and performance, including embodied carbon.
  • Embrace technologies to improve performance and sustainability to meet net zero targets by 2030.
  • Ensure projects are carried out to an excellent standard, within agreed deadlines and budget.
  • Actively engage with colleagues across disciplines, in group discussions and at events and seminars.
  • Mentor more junior team members, potentially leading to an early line‑management role.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Extensive electrical design experience in an MEP consultancy, with experience acting as project leader.
  • Diverse sector experience, ideally with large‑scale project experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, able to develop relationships with clients, architects and other team members.
  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in engineering (BEng/BSc or MEng/MSc).
  • Professional registration with a relevant institution (e.g. CIBSE, IMechE).
  • Good understanding of other design disciplines, although electrical bias is required.
  • Broad design knowledge from working on a wide range of projects and using British, US and European codes of practice.
  • Experience using common analysis software including Revit and Amtech and willingness to quickly learn new packages as required.
  • Digital engineering skills (e.g. coding) or use of automation tools would be advantageous.

Key projects you may work on include:

  • Wrexham AFC Kop Stand Redevelopment – new 5,500‑seat stand for the STōK Cae Ras stadium.
  • MMU All Saints Library – creation of a new world‑class library and teaching building in central Manchester.
  • Sister Manchester Plot C – first new‑build development on the Sister Manchester site, comprising 500,000 ft² of high‑quality commercial office space and community use spaces.
