This role is a Development Scientist in the Sequencing Development Team. The responsibilities include a focus on the development and integration of hardware, software, firmware, and flow cell chemistry. The candidate will improve performance and reliability of core sequencing devices, kits, and flow cells by providing feedback on issues and potential improvements to various stakeholders. The position is evenly split between office and lab-based tasks.

Responsibilities

Assist the development of current and future sequencing products, focusing on development and integration of hardware, software, firmware, and flow cell chemistry. Improve performance and reliability of core sequencing devices, kits, and flow cells, feeding back issues and possible improvements to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a relevant physical/biological area.
  • Experience with basic laboratory techniques (pipetting, heating equipment, thermocyclers).
  • Basic understanding of Linux, Python, and/or iPython notebooks.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of organization.
  • Good problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; role involves interaction with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders across Research, Development, Production, and informatics teams.

Training and Learning

Training will be provided. A willingness to learn and develop is essential.
