We are searching for a proactive Nursing Associate to join our Helena Specialist Nursing Team at Ryegate House, Sheffield.
Our Service
The Helena Specialist Nursing Team provides care for children and young people in community settings including the homes of patients and school settings.
Ryegate House is a six-bedded facility providing 24 hour nursing care and brief holidays for children and young adults (0-19 years) with complicated neurological health issues.
As a member of the Team, you’ll deliver personalised, high-quality care in homes, schools and our facilities, providing families with safe and caring respite.
About the Position
It is a terrific opportunity to develop your specialist abilities around things like tracheostomy and ventilation and get some experience teaching in the community and organisation.
You will support daily line management, providing compassionate care to palliative patients and their family and service expansion.
You will also become an expert in areas such as sepsis, infection management and tissue viability.
The Nursing Associate works autonomously in the domain of nursing care and in all parts of the nursing process under the direction of registered nurses.
Key Responsibilities
You will have some of the below responsibilities reporting into the Matron:
- The Nursing Associate will work collaboratively with the multi professional team and the Registered Nurse to assess, plan, coordinate and deliver clinical care in line with service and patient needs, as agreed with supervisory clinicians
- The Nursing Associate is independent in their work, but is supervised by registered nurses
- They work within the field of nursing care and in all elements of the nursing process
- The postholder will at all times behave professionally and use their expertise and experience to make evidence based judgements to tackle challenges and difficulties
- They labour within the limitations of their competence and are responsible and accountable for what they do
- The job holder will have some responsibility for supervising learners i.e. new starts and students throughout their placements once their preceptorship is completed and they have completed any additional training required for their area
- They will be required to take an active role in quality assurance processes and service improvement
